Welcome to our Home!

The Lujan Home for Girls was founded on 10 August 2009 in the Diocese of Vanimo, Papua New Guinea by the Servants of the Lord & the Virgin of Matará.

The sisters provide a peaceful home and holistic education to vulnerable girls and young women from families facing poverty and tribal violence. Through a shared life of prayer, study, and recreation, our residents are encouraged to love the Lord, grow in their gifts, form deep friendships, and give back to the community.

Meet our girls

Our prayer is that our girls will be blessed and be a blessing to others. In addition to their studies, the girls can join a small orchestra, volunteer at the Cathedral, and participate in fun competitions.

The girls enjoy learning crafts such as baking, making rosaries, weaving bilum bags, and embroidery. And at the heart of the Home is the celebration of Holy Mass on Sundays followed by a simple picnic at the nearby beach.

By bringing together children from tribes in conflict, the sisters hope that the virtues and friendships that our girls develop will help them to become peacemakers in their communities and bearers of joy in the world.
